Ver. 2 Trigger Post fix

Postby ravyn10 » Tue Aug 23, 2011 9:37 am

On my m4 my trigger post broke inside the gearbox in the middle of a skirmish, making it unusable. A quick way to fix this without buying a whole new mechbox shell is:

Step 1: drill out the square where the post used to be with a drill press.
Step 2: Drill and Tap the hole to give it matching threads to the screw your using with a Tap and Die set.
Step 3: cut off the head of the screw with a dremel cutting wheel, and grind it down until it is flush with the gearbox (on the selector plate side)
Step 4: grind down the other side until it is the same height as the trigger post; It's about 1-3 (depending on how fine the threads are) threads higher than the cutoff lever.
Step 5: Super Glue!

There are many videos on youtube for further instruction if needed.

That puppy looks good.

Now go throw it at something and tell us if the paint chips :)

haha the paint staying on is somewhat of a problem. I'll probably add more coats of paint and another clear coat in the near future. I might also sand the slide too. Any suggestions as to how to keep the chrome sanded finish from oxidizing and turning dark?

I would recomend going to home depot and buying a $2.50 pot of BEHR Paint and primer, the flat exterior kind. Stuff goes on thick in one coat and is fairly hard to scratch, I'm not sure about its wear qualities on something like a hand guard(where your sweat and grip can wear it off), but it looks good for using on optics. Also dries in like 20 minutes to final hardness.
Feel free to message me if you need assistance with a WE-scar, gbb maintenance, or any maintenance for that mater, I'm around and checking.
Current armory:
WE SCAR, "King's special" (in for repairs)
Cyma AK-47 - "bloodbath"
KWA Mac-11, for making things loud in a hurry
Tanaka m700 breakdown, for those rare situations when I don't actually want to be seen

My main problem with thicker paints is the flashlight rail because it gets scratched whenever I decide to remove the flashlight.

EDIT: Uploaded a new video of my full TAN GLOCK! check it out.

Airsoft: Add Recoil
Real Steel: Reduce Recoil
