So to sum it up, both have their disadvantages while lasers do not :P

And plasma even less so. :P

Just kidding. Great read, thanks for shedding some experienced light on something that so many people like to argue. Not to mention whom have not only no military experience, they often don't even have firearms experience at all.

Lmao, the whole tidbit about "plasma" and "lasers" made me think of Fallout.
Plasma has more damage, but travels slower and lasers move faster, but does less damage.

The new "apples and oranges" is now "plasma and lasers".  :ugeek:

Hey, the military has been developing lasers as weapons...expect to see handheld weapons as such in the near future.

And that's all that needs to be said more about lasers.

You are correct. They are two different rounds. And believe it or not, there is a huge "M14/M1A vs. AK47" debate as well, but mainly its a survivalist debate and I dont really care.

The NATO round (7.62x51) is larger, longer and heavier than the Russian 7.62x39. The only reason I included it in the comparison was because it was in the comments by others about Vietnam and so forth. I said I was going to be blunt in hopes that some would know some of this info.

Thanks for bringing it up though!

Every time you think the OP is gonna end, you can just keep scrolling and scrolling....then you find this part:

Nice, detailed read; but alas, I doubt this will put an end to the debates that arise from thread to thread. There is in fact a sticky all about the different types of gasses you can use to power airsoft guns but yet I still see threads asking about propane vs green gas.

However, the question still remains: Which one is better?

Just kidding, don't hurt me.

At least the ones that do read this will know. Education is the spreading of wisdom. Unfortunately, rumors spread like cockroaches, and are just as hard to kill. Thats why we, as a collective group that know and understand facts, need to stomp on the rumor as quickly as possible.

There will always be people who never research and will always ask the obvious questions, dispite if the answer is in his face. But, if you know the answer, give it, but also give an example on how you found it.

Thanks for elucidating. I'd though of 7.62 NATO -vs- 5.56 NATO a bit more like 7.62 M43 -vs- 5.45 M76 (reliable damage -vs- potential for massive tumble damage. Or, conversely Mid-power rifle cartridge -vs- Mid-power rifle cartridge ). It looks like more of a different animal now that it's spelled out.

****, Bishop. That was very entertaining. I'm not a real steal guy at all, but it really bugs be when my friends talk trash about the M16/M4's reliability. Plus, I can always appreciate one hell of a rant.

Edit: Wait, why is the PG version of darn blocked? :|
