While I'm not going to argue that major retail stores are causing a decline in local stores, you can't just look at it from one side. I don't want to see local stores go out of business (with a few exceptions here), but often times, these local stores charge well above retail costs for items. A local airsoft store that I used to go to would charge $30-50 over Airsoft GI's price (before any discounts) for most GBB pistols, and often times $100 above retail for GBB SMGs, AEGs and other more expensive guns. I don't have a problem with stores charging enough to stay open, but I refuse to pay 20-50% more on these things. It's bad enough that many kids barely spend money on basic equipment (how many people at your local fields try to use sneakers or old and crappy hiking boots, cheap safety glasses or snow goggles, or other cheap stuff that is potentially dangerous?), but when these local stores raise the prices so high, even less money will go into basic safety stuff.
