I think it passed a smaller comity, now it has to be passed by the senate. So there is still plenty of time to make calls, send letters, and let representatives know that we do not want this bill.

It passed the senate floor and is now going to face the committee of public safety...

Yup, definently passed the Senate floor.

So theres on last chance for this to be rejected correct?

-Sidenote. Has anyone carefully read the 3rd reading analysis? From what i just read, the ridiculous colors only affect Airsoft guns that are being Manufactured OR sold. Wouldt this not mean Airsoft guns Previous to this bill would be fine the way they are?

That's the process, now it goes onto the assembly committee of public safety.

Edit: Oh and as i asked before on some other thread if the ex post facto law would apply, or that guns purchased before this law WOULDN'T have to be painted these bright colors.

Woah thanks. wait that means we still have a big chance... theres only been hearings for the senate, not from the assembly right? not to mention the VERY last step is the governor. If it comes down to it, i hope Governor Brown can pull us out of this one since he is into guns and all...

SB 798

Postby iAerials » Wed May 11, 2011 2:06 pm

I looked over this possible bill a lot and many ideas have come to mind. I do not live in California or on the West coast and this bill will not affect be, but this bill still disgusts me. First off, now that airsoft guns that are painted a bright color can pass as "safe" in public that means people can paint real steel guns the same bright colors and carry them in public. Hence a higher crime rate and cops not paying attention to people that could potentially have a real gun just because its a bright color.

The only good part of this bill: Since I dont live in CA, but i do most of my buying from ASGI and Evike, does anyone have any speculation of what the airsoft market could turn into with the passage of this bill. For out of state buyers this law doesnt apply nor do any CA laws.

So essentially my speculation is that with the passage of this bill and ban of black guns would majors sellers like ASGI and Evike be frantic to sell the last of the black guns?

Does anyone think that out of state buyers could purchase guns from ASGI or Evike for a much, much lower price if they ban black guns?

Think about this and post thought below.

sure it's a few thousand miles away but think of where most of the major distributors are and where the guns coming from Asia end up. California. so even if we're on the east coast, all of our favorite distributors will be affected and so will you and i.

This bill will make ASGI and all CA based distributors have to sell clear plastic, or brightly colored guns. We also already have a thread about SB 798. The search bar is your friend.
