General Spring-Powered Guns FAQ

Spring Guns

What are spring powered guns?

Generally referred to as “springers” they usually sport a lower powered spring and are manually operated, requiring one slide racking per shot; cheap and fun for plinking, but bad and generally useless in skirmishes. There are also spring powered rifles, they do not sport the same misconceptions of ‘springers’ they sport higher FPS ratings, and some use AEG springs. They are very accurate and generally fire long distances.

The A&K SVD uses AEG springs. But you can get a nice AEG for the cost of the A&K SVD.

What's the difference between a sniper rifle using an AEG spring, and a sniper rifle using whatever other spring it uses?

AEG springs are much easier to find...

I don't understand what the big deal is if a gun has an AEG spring or another spring?

AEG springs are made to generate a certain amount of power in a gearbox. Bolt-action springs are made to generate a certain amount of power in a bolt-action springer.

...So AEG springs shouldn't be used in sniper rifles?

Assuming that they fit (which I'm not sure if they do) they wouldn't work as well as sniper rifle springs because they're shorter, and aren't designed the same way.
