Gloves: Blackhawk or Mechanix

Postby NeCtRiCkS » Tue Feb 18, 2014 12:12 am

Hello, my friends. How are you?
Well, I've bought these Mechanix M-pact gloves, but I got them a bit bigger (M), so my fingers tips are about 2cm smaller than "needed"; I can't have a good feel or grab small parts and stuff like that.
So I'll sell them here (Brazil) and buy new ones, but I'm between these two models:
1. Mechanix Mpact (not sure about full model name);
2. Blackhawk Hellstorm S.O.L.A.G. (non-Kevlar).

Extra info:
*I found those Mechanix for about the same price as the Blackhawks.
*My hand is 19cm/7,5" width (measuring around it). So, either Mechanix's small or Blackhawk's medium gloves would fit fine or would still be too loose?

My priorities are: durability, fitting/comfort/ability to feel, water-resistant (I've heard Mechanix are machine-washable. True story?) and whatever may matter.

Thank you so much :D

Up:
I've bought the Mechanix M-pact gloves as I found them in small size here in Brazil and at a good price, while Blackhawks I found only in large and extra large.
Thank you.

That was quick.

I would have recommended the Mechanix gloves anyway.

I've used various gloves and I agree I would have used the Mechanix. I've used them for real steel training and pretty much everything else I do from working on cars and motorcycles to digging holes and playing airsoft. They are great and cheap. I usually keep a few spare pair laying around.

I don't care much for the M-pact line I prefer either the Fastfit line or the Original line myself. I have better dexterity in those than the M-pacts.

Yea, I believe there was something wrong with my thread's timestamping haha.
I was between buying Mechanix from China or Blackhawk in Brazil, but then I found Mechanix for the same price as Blackhawk and went ahead and bought it. Some friends also recommended Mechanix over BH.
Thanks for the helpful replies, guys.
Take care :D

Up:
Guys, I've bought that pair of [S]mall Mechanix M-Pact. My hands are exactly between XS and S (7,5cm). But I still don't have much feel with it, as there's a smaaall gap between my fingertips and the gloves. And I won't find XS Mechanix anywhere. What do you suggest?
I'd pick fingerless gloves, but I've hurt myself in thorn bushes [and might get hurt with rusty metal in CQB scenarios], so I avoid them.
Thank you!

Get the Mechanix Original gloves. The M-Pacts have a leather layer in the index finger and thumb sections which in my experience cuts your dexterity almost to zero. The Mechanix has just the standard leather in the index and thumb giving you much better dexterity. I use mine for real steel training too.

Thank you, buddy. I've bought the Originals one. I can't wait to have it in my hands (literally) haha.

Also, what you guys think about 5.11 gloves? How they perform compared to Mechanix?

5.11 makes some good products but sometimes you are paying extra for the 5.11 name. I'd just stick to Mechanixs because they are cheap and get the job done without all the bells and whistles.
