You only need them to sell a gun, once you have it, depending on your state laws, you can take them off. Just don't wave your gun around in front of a cop.

according to california laws, they have to have a orange blaze tip, painted or capped. if you change it with black duct tape or take the cap off, its illegal. but at least the cops aren't in the bushes spying on me airsofting ;D
