Gearbox glued?

Postby Bloodhound » Mon Mar 05, 2012 2:27 pm

Im trying to open the gearbox for some regular maintenance, but that sheath-like part on the top that holds the 2 halves of the shell together is really stuck on there. Funny thing is, I've worked on G&G blowback gearboxes before (that were not Airsoft GI G4s) and that piece came right off with a few taps of a tap hammer. So I was wondering if Airsoft GI glues this piece on for their G4s?

As far as I know, GI does nothing to the internals of any G4s (with the exception of those with a tight bore). I have worked on several G4s and a few CMs and have never noticed a difference. Just keep hitting it

Yeah that slide is a pain in the ass to get off. I was hammering at that thing for about an hour until I got someone to help me. It's a lot easier with two people. Just use a flathead and a small hammer/mallet.

I managed to stab myself with a screwdriver on that one. I ended up putting a ball end Allen wrench in there and tapped it with a screwdriver handle and it popped right off.
