I believe that there is nothing wrong with this. After all, I did get tired of staring at Bob the Axeman in more revealing poses. ;) Just Kidding. People just need to learn respect for women. She isn't posing awkwardly, or flaunting herself. She is just posing, showing off the gear and guns ASGI has available. Airsoft is a co-ed sport, there should be no prejuidice against females. Besides, no women got mad when they had Bob posing with his guns.

you guys need to calm down. she isn't even in "revealing clothing". modeling is a full on career, and because GI has given somebody a job in their chosen career to make this a sport that doesn't involve just males, you are angry. Nobody had a problem with guys modeling off guns and equipment, but god forbid a girl do it. even if it is a 'tactic' who cares? Just ignore it and keep shopping like you normally do if you are so offended by a not male showing off gear

New low for Asgi

Postby Airsoft345 » Mon Jun 13, 2011 9:38 pm

I personally do not think the Airsoft GI girl is a great idea. First look at the name...that person does have a name and calling her the GITV girl doesn't make it look like she isn't being treated as just something to help sell airsoft guns. I do not think that was the intent behind the idea but i don't think that many viewers will take it as anything but using a girl to sell things. I am not against using girls in advertisements but i think the GITV girl wasn't dressed like a normal air-softer and looks as if she has never held a gun before. I suggest just sticking to actual air-softers not models to represent the product. We use the product we buy the product we should represent it.

Good point. However, she is in pictures wearing tac gear, "com's", gun-blazing. Sure, this is a new pathway for Airsoft GI, but with the right marketing techniques it could work well. As long as they don't take any revealing or tasteless pictures. Girls are part of airsoft, albeit not a large majority. She isn't posed in bikini's, and there is nothing wrong with this modeling technique.

EDIT:: And, I've seen a guy dressed in a green dragon with a KWA M4A1 2GX airsofting at my local field before. I've also seen people in just jeans and t-shirt, which is much less "tactical" than this.

^@Airsoft345: Exactly what my point was.

The thing they are calling her makes her sound just like that. A thing. Being used to sell products.

She is not wearing tactical gear in most of the pictures, hell, she's barely wearing what would pass for a shirt/blouse in most of them, definitely a lot of using cleavage to sell stuff in quite a few of those pictures.

She's not an airsofter, she's a model.

Bottom line/tl;dr: Drop the "GITV Girls" crap, sounds like something a hormone-enraged 12 year old would come up with; get an actual airsofter, or at least make her look like an actual airsofter; and then maybe it wouldn't be as bad. Except for the fact that you are outright copying competition, which makes for a bad impression for your company.

That sums it up pretty darn well right there.

Any of you guys seen some of the advertisements Inokatsu has been putting out the last year or two? This gradual trend starting to show in Airsoft ads is definitely not good for the image of the sport.

Agreed. She isn't wearing what I would choose for my loadout, but at least alot of it is somewhat tactical-looking.

And, I agree that "GITV girl" makes her sound like an item.

However, the whole "GITV girl" scheme is a decent idea, they may have just gone the wrong way about advertising it. Evike began the whole "sex sells" with Airsoft, and it seems like ASGI is copying them, but they aren't. All of Maureen Chen's pictures are tasteful, and she is adequately clothed.

Yes, Inokatsu has really began with this stuff, and it's honestly not good for the sport. But the difference is, Maureen Chen isn't in bikinis, underwear, or anything of the sort.

ASGI just needs a more gradual approach to promoting this, and a more "natural" photos and not staged pictures.

Inokatsu's ads are outright pornographic (not exaggerating), so it's a little bit different, but it all leads in the same direction.

I have no problem with it if it is professional. However, when you're making sure to get all the cleavage in the photos as possible without becoming Evike or Inokatsu, it's downright disgusting.

Go take a cold shower or something to cool down those hormones, ffs.
