KJW M9 vs M1911 - Beginner Help

Postby themcggamer » Sun Feb 23, 2014 9:49 am

I am new to the world of airsoft. I found a few pistols I am looking at. The KJW M9 (http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=3033) or the KJW M1911 (http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=3789).

I was wondering if anyone had / has these guns and what you liked and disliked about both.

I'm thinking of using CO2, but I am not 100% sure. What do you recommend?

Thanks!

Choice of pistol is normally a lot of personal choice.
I've never held a KJW M9. I don't have a clue about them.
The second gun is actually a hi-capa. This means that it takes larger, double stack mags. True 1911s have slim, single stack mags.

I have the Hi-capa nearby. It seems to have had its share of problems, but I got mine well used. My 1911 of the same brand is pretty solid still.
Another note is that Hi-capas have a lot of parts. So many. Anything you could imagine, hi-capa has it. M9 isn't quite as open to customization, but you can still find replacement parts easy.

As stated above it's all about personal preference. Also a stated your linked 1911 is a double stack. The grip is wider than a "normal" 1911. I suggest finding both in your local area and asking to fire/handle them and see which one you like the best.

My personal preference is to stay away from M9s. But that's just my experience with them in their real steel versions. The M9 has a BEEFY grip and IMO the safety isn't in the best of places. It's pretty high up on the slide, and the grip size is just huge IMO for a pistol that only holds 15 rounds in the real version.

Out of the two I would prefer the 1911 because IMO it feels much better in the hand and handles better. Weights are comparable.

In real guns I'm a GLOCK shooter so my GBB Pistol is a KWA ATP. It fits my GLOCK holsters and is similar enough for me.

Here's a link to a single stack 1911. IMO you can't go wrong with this one.

or (I have this one) the WE MEU 1911.
